8/16/08 - 6th Annual Garland District Street Fair Today The bright yellow brick road bobs and weaves through the center of Garland street, leading visitors from one end of the Garland street fair to the other.

8/14/08 - Performer who knew Garland to appear at annual fest Windsor said that when he was identified as one of the creatures in the movie, "all hell broke loose." Aficionados of Oz overwhelmed him with fan mail and requests for autographs and photographs.

8/1/08 - NASA craft probes ice on Mars Boynton uncorked a bottle of champagne and announced he was dubbing the ice sample the "Wicked Witch of the West," after the character in the Wizard of Oz who melted away. Then Boynton - ever the comic - donned a flamboyant ragged black witch's hat.

7/28/08 - Swarovski Takes Centre Stage Dorothy will step out in footwear studded with red Swarovski crystals; the only shoes fit for walking on Swarovski-studded sets and interacting with "Good Witch" Glinda in her crystal-drenched dress.

8/19/08 - King Kojo with Illustrations by Marge Not only was Marge one of the rare female cartoonists of her time, she also retained all rights to Lulu — rarer still for the time. I can only think of one other cartoonist of the 1930s (the one and only Percy Crosby) who did the same.

8/18/08 - Amy Winehouse's new album inspired by Wizard of Oz The troubled singer is working on the follow up to her Grammy award winning album Back to Black and has been inspired by the 1939 Judy Garland film. Along with the title theme, famous songs from the musical include Over the Rainbow.

8/15/08 - Off to see the Wizard:Visit a vibrant Oz at Marionette Theatre The puppets, all hand-crafted by Hill, follow those iconic film characters, with a few tweaks. The Tin Man looks more like “The Iron Giant” from the 1999 animated movie than Jack Haley’s funnel-topped timberman.

7/24/08 - A tale of two witches Perhaps the biggest surprise comes from two former Australian Idolers Rob Mills, as male lead Fiyero, and Anthony Callea as a perfectly cast munchkin. Both hold their own with strong vocals - Callea particularly has a voice that seems perfect for theatre.

7/23/08 - Raleigh Little Theatre's Ozma of Oz Raleigh Little Theatre's Teens on Stage production of Ozma of Oz: A Tale of Time is a lovely piece of all-ages entertainment, loosely adapted from one of the many sequels L. Frank Baum wrote for The Wizard of Oz by family playwright Suzan Zeder.

7/23/08 - Wizard of Oz Begins Performances at London's Royal Festival Hall July 23 The cast boasts Siân Brooke as Dorothy with Adam Cooper as the Tin Man, Roy Hudd as the Wizard of Oz, Julie Legrand as the Wicked Witch of the West, Hilton McRae as the Scarecrow and Gary Wilmot as the Cowardly Lion.

7/23/08 - Wicked winter escape to Melbourne Theatre tourism is a huge drawcard for Melbourne – A$10 million in Wicked tickets have sold already, more than a quarter from outside Victoria, and producers are hoping the production will run for several years, bringing more of the 6.7 million visitors.

8/13/08 - Tin Man (UK BD) in September Brightspark have announced the UK Blu-ray Disc release of Tin Man on 15th September 2008 priced at £24.99.

8/9/08 - Alpine Pictures, Inc. Signs Jim Belushi Jim Belushi has accepted to play the role of the Lion in Alpine Pictures' upcoming Dorothy of OZ.

8/4/08 - Former Reginan gets Emmy nomination for Tin Man "The director really gave us the go-ahead to become very creative in this." Her creativity included creating jewel-encrusted eye pieces that fit into an actor's eye sockets. "The eye patches took me four 12-hour days -- it was a huge prep for me."

7/27/08 - The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Anime Series Cut in shortened form, these (films) feel grating to fans who love the original Baum tales. But played out in the full fifty-two 21 minute episodes, the changes feel more natural as a whole.

7/25/08 - Alpine Pictures, Inc Signs Jim Belushi to the Iconic Role of The Lion in Their Upcoming Animated Feature Film Dorothy Jim Belushi has accepted to play the role of the Lion in Alpine Pictures' upcoming Dorothy of OZ.

7/25/08 - Mission possible: Film restoration "In The Wizard of Oz the computers wound up removing Dorothy's slippers from the shot entirely because they sparkled and were different on every frame. We wound up having to put them back into the shot."

8/20/08 - Future Warner Home Video Restorations Revealed The magnificent 1954 version of A Star Is Born, with Judy Garland and James Mason. It's a 6K restoration that we're doing. That's one of the earliest CinemaScope movies and it's a masterpiece, as far as we're concerned.

8/11/08 - Former Judy Garland Sammy Davis Jr. Estate for Sale in the prestigious Sunset Strip Hills "The second I saw this property I knew it was a one of kind, diamond in the rough. You could feel Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra, and the whole Rat Pack hanging out in the cabana. Not to mention that Judy Garland also lived here at one time… amazing!"
